Apple Crumble

April 22, 2010
We have people over for supper on Wednesdays, and I usually don’t make dessert, but this week I was craving some yummy warm winter pudding. Seeing as apples are cheap and healthy, this seemed the perfect recipe. Its really good with home made pouring custard. Was so awesome I didn’t even get to take a photo…
INGREDIENTS
7 apples, peeled, cored and sliced (I used Golden Delicious)
4 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup brown sugar (I used Muscavado, as I didn’t have any other)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
METHOD
1 Preheat oven to 180°F. In a mixing bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, and vanilla. Toss to combine.
2 Layer sliced apples in a 20 x 30-cm (or approximately the same size) baking pan.
3 Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and oatmeal in a bowl. Cut in the butter. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples.
4 Bake 45 minutes or until topping looks crunchy and apples are tender.
Serves 8. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
